SHIRDAK is a gallery of nomad textile and felt carpets from Central Asia. The collection of Shirdak contains traditional textiles such as ikatcoats, embroidery from the Chinese Miao minority, Suzanies and feltcarpets. The owner Marianne Tuerlings frequently travels to Eastern Europe and Central Asia to personally select the gallery's unique range of special textile products.
We also have a unique modern felt collection from European designers, these designer felt hats, boots and scarfs are all handmade.
Felt Hats and Clothing. A special feature of the gallery is the exclusive sale of felt hats by Dutch millinery designer Zsofia Marx. Zsofia's hat designs are entirely handmade in pure wool felt, she offers a bespoke service, each design can be made to measure in your favourite colours and create the ideal gift.
We stock a wide range of slippers of handmade felt made on fair trade basis in Central Asia. This product is very popular because of its warmth and comfort. The slippers are available in several colors and also in natural grey. Beside the slippers there is a handmade collection of full felt boots.
SHIRDAK is situated on one of the most beautiful canals in Holland, the Prinsengracht in Amsterdam. We welcome visitors to our shop to see and touch the textile products, to buy something or be inspired.
