Shirdak presents an exhibition of Batik Textiles from China
From May 24th to August 20th 2008! The Miao is the largest ethnic minority in the province of Guizhou, China. Isolated by the high mountains, they have retained their traditional culture. As the Miao does not have a written language, there is a rich culture of textiles. The exhibition showcases traditional costumes, all items hand-woven and hand-dyed using the batik technique.
