This week sees the launch of the new Denham Category 5 jeans collection. Denim has a vibrant history steeped in tradition. The new Category 5 collection celebrates this with a traditionally inspired 5 pocket jean, perfected with the Denham touch.
Since its launch in 2008, the Denham brand is best known for denim innovations such as the iconic 7-point pocket jeans. 5 years on, founder Jason Denham felt it was time to re-examine the classics. The result is a range of 5 pocket denims in four new fits for both men and women.
In creating this classic collection, key aspects were the fit, the detailing and the wash. Indeed the top class tailoring and wash skills of the Denham team are very much in evidence in this collection. Getting the balance of all these ingredients exactly right was the challenge.
Denham Category 5 – the fit:
Four fits for the guys, each named after the components of the tailor’s scissors.
Bolt, which is skinny fit
Razor – more of a slim fit
Drill – a more relaxed, easier to wear jeans
Forge – more of a loose fit, the thinking is a bigger fit for bigger guys.
Denham Category 5 ladies jeans also come in four fits, with names inspired by the scissors:
Sharp – a skinny fit jeans
Blade – regular fitting jeans
Point – carrot jeans
Edge – boyfriend fit
The ladies denims are made from soft, specially blended Italian denim, with great attention to sensitivity of touch and feel both inside and out.
Denham Category 5 – the detailing:
Famed for its detailing, the Denham team have taken their motto ‘The Truth is in the Details’ to a new level with Category 5 and added lots of detail to the inside as well as the outside of the jeans. Look out for the embroidered scissors logo and charmingly lined pockets.
Denham Category 5 – the wash:
The wash range includes vintage inspired finishes from virgin, to worn-in one year, worn-in two years and ‘worn-in three years’. The washes are based on vintage garments from the Denham garment library.
